Perth Mint's Australian Lunar Series III collection continues the rich tradition of minting spectacular bullion coins by portraying animal themes from the Chinese Lunar calendar. The reverse design changes each year based on the Chinese lunar calendar, and the 2020 reverse celebrates the Year of the Mouse. Those born under the sign of the Chinese lunar mouse in 2020, 2008, 1996, 1984, 1972, and every 12thpreceding year are said to be smart, resourceful, adaptable and kind. Possessing a rich imagination and strong intuition, mice rely on quick wits and an enterprising nature to find opportunity for success in almost all endeavors.
Known for their quality and collectibility, the Perth Mint Lunar series is a cornerstone of many Precious Metals portfolios. The original Lunar bullion series, these coins (beginning with the Series I launch in 1996) have become some of the most widely collected around the globe, as demand originated in Asia but spread to Europe and America as investors became exposed to the design and quality. In addition to the annual design change, many investors love that the coins' select mintage limits create the potential for even greater investment return in the form of a numismatic premium appreciation. This series is so popular, the 1 oz Gold and Silver Lunars are now instant sell-outs every year!

All silver bullion coinage offered by the Perth Mint on a regular basis dating back to the 1990 release of the Australian Silver Kookaburra featured .999 pure silver content. It wasnt until the 2016 introduction of these Australian Silver Kangaroo coins that the Perth Mint had a .9999 pure silver coin in regular distribution.
The design on the Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins is inspired by the copper penny coins that debuted back in 1938. These coins featured a leaping kangaroo in left-profile relief with the commonwealth star of Australia. The specific design featured on these coins is inspired by Stuart Devlins red kangaroo coin design.
On the reverse of 2020 1 oz Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins is the image of a kangaroo leaping from right to left across the design field of the coins. The background field is filled by radial sunburst lines. Each coin has .9999 pure silver content and an engraving of Australian Kangaroo on the top rocker.
The obverse of 2020 Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins features the impressive sixth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This image was created by Jody Clark and is based on the 2015 design for the Royal Mint of England. Unlike that design, this portrait of Her Majesty includes the Queens shoulders and neckline in an Australian coin portrait for the first time since 1966.
Australian Silver Kangaroo coins have sold some 26 million units since being introduced in 2016. The intense demand for these coins depleted the 2019 stock so quickly that 2020 date marked coins were moved up early in the release schedule.
