Lunar Year of the Pig The Pig is the last sign in the Chinese zodiac in the 12-year Chinese zodiac animal cycle. The Pig is known for being kind and gentle, and calm when facing adversity. The year 2019 is the year of the Earth Pig, known for being communicative and popular. The zodiac sign combined with one of the five elements only comes once every 60-year cycle.
The coin's designer, Harry Brockway, ensured the characteristics of people born in the Year of the Pig translated into the coin's design, evoking the generosity and compassion of the pig. The country home, with smoke rising from the cozy fireplace inside symbolizes the traits of calmness, in conjunction with the night sky above the home. The mother pig with her children symbolizes family, loyalty and generosity.

The Spade Guinea was a popular gold coin issued by the United Kingdom starting in 1663 and was used around the world through the 18thcentury. The Spade Guinea bore the shield of the British Royal Arms on one side as carried by members of the royal family from the House of Hanover.
On the reverse side of 2019 1 oz Saint Helena Silver Spade Guinea Shield Coins is the image of the British Royal Arms featured on the Spade Guinea coinage in 1787. The shield in this form was carried from 1714 to 1800 after the Act of Settlement 1701. The shield bears the three lilies of France in the upper-right quadrant and the harp of Ireland in the lower-left quadrant. The upper left includes the three lions of England the rampant lion of Scotland. The lower-right quadrant bears the white horse of Hanover as the primary element among three other elements marking the monarchs lands in Brunswick and Luneburg, with the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire.

Prior to the rule of King Richard I, his father King Henry II and other previous Anglo-Saxon and Danish kings used lions in the heraldry. This included the various Anglo-Saxon and Danish kingdoms, as well as the eventual unified English kingdom as established by Alfred the Great. However, Richard I is credited with adopting the Three Lions design that is now recognized globally as a central piece of the Royal Arms of the English monarch.
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of all 2020 1 oz British Silver Royal Arms Coins. This right-profile bust of the Queen was developed in 2015 by Jody Clark, the youngest artist ever to create a monarchs bust for the Royal Mint of England. In this design, Her Majesty wears the George IV State Diadem Crown.
Timothy Noad designed the modern depiction of the Royal Arms of England featured on the reverse of these 2020 1 oz British Silver Royal Arms Coin. The Crowned Lion of England supports the shield to the left, while the Unicorn of Scotland supports it on the right.
